Srinagar :  Local students at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar city staged protests on Tuesday in response to a non-local student’s “inflammatory” social media post.

Local NIT students protested against a non-local student’s social media post that they claimed offended Muslim religious feelings by locking both of the college’s entrances and by holding signs.

The non-local student was sent home on leave by the college administration, despite the protesting students’ demands that the administration take harsh measures against him.

While college administrators stated they are considering taking appropriate action against the non-local student, police are attempting to calm down the protesting students.
