Penalty slammed on Dalit men for asking devotees to take Dasara procession in colony

Chamarajanagar: In a shocking incident, two dalit youths from Honnur village in Yelandur taluk of the Chamarajanagar district have alleged that they were asked to pay Rs.60,202 as fine for asking the villagers to pass the Dasara procession through their area (SC colony).

In their complaint, Ningaraju, a local resident alleged that he was asked to pay Rs.50,101 as fine for asking the villagers to take the Dasara procession inside the SC colony and informing the tahsildar about the caste system in the village.

His friend Shankaramurthy fined Rs.10,101 for accompanying him to tahsildar’s office.

Ninjaragu alleged that he paid the fine by selling his wife’s gold ornaments.

Yelandur tahsildar Sudarshan informed that he is holding a meeting today in this regard with the villagers.
