In connection with the tragic deaths of five tigers in Chamarajanagar district, three men were taken into custody by forest and police officials. The accused—identified as Madaraju, Nagaraju, and Konappa—were formally produced before Kollegal Senior Judge Kavyashree at her residence. After reviewing the case details, the judge ordered that they be remanded to judicial custody until June 30.
Before appearing in court, all three were escorted to the government hospital in Kollegal, where they underwent a mandatory medical examination to ensure they were fit for interrogation and detention. Following the health check-up, the authorities completed the required documentation and proceeded with legal formalities.
The arrests were made after a thorough investigation into the deaths of the tigers, which had sparked outrage among wildlife activists and the public. Officials believe the accused were directly involved in activities that led to the tigers’ deaths, though further inquiry is underway to uncover the full extent of their roles and any potential accomplices.
This incident has highlighted the urgent need to strengthen wildlife protection and enforce stricter penalties for poaching and related crimes.
