Karnataka BJP has alleged that a century-old school in Chikkaballapur district, where Sir M. Visvesvaraya once studied, has been declared Waqf property. Opposition Leader R. Ashoka led a BJP delegation to the site on Tuesday, claiming irregularities in the school premises.

Ashoka highlighted that the school, developed with CSR funds and secured by a compound wall, now houses a mosque and dargah. He questioned how such structures were allowed within the historic school. Additionally, he alleged that a green flag, hoisted year-round, has replaced the national flag, raising concerns about the message being conveyed to students.

Ashoka accused the Congress government of enabling religious conversions among schoolchildren, stating that loudspeakers from the mosque disrupt the learning environment. He also claimed the Waqf Board has attempted to alter land records, citing his intervention during a similar issue involving Chikkamma Temple in Mandya.

The BJP leader criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for failing to safeguard land records, alleging that even lands held by farmers for generations are being marked as Waqf property. He described the Waqf Board as a “rogue demon,” demanding immediate corrections to affected records.

The controversy has sparked heated political debates, with calls for accountability and transparency regarding Waqf property designations.
