Chikkaballapur: A 28-year-old auto driver from Gauribidanur town landed in legal trouble after a birthday celebration turned controversial. The man, Anil Kumar from Lagumenahalli village, allegedly used a sword to cut his cake, a clip of which rapidly spread across social media platforms.
The incident occurred on Saturday when Anil was celebrating his birthday among friends. In a dramatic gesture, he chose to slice his cake with a sword instead of a knife. One of his companions captured the moment on a mobile phone and posted it online. The video quickly gained traction, drawing widespread attention.
Gauribidanur police took suo motu notice of the viral footage and initiated legal proceedings. Anil was booked for creating public disturbance and under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Law enforcement officials also seized the weapon displayed in the video.
After recording his statement, police granted him station bail with specific restrictions. Authorities emphasized that public displays of such weapons, even in private events, send the wrong message and violate public safety norms.
