The Chikkamagaluru district administration is prioritizing the development of Naxal-affected villages, particularly in Koppa, Sringeri, and Kalasa, to ensure access to basic facilities. Deputy Commissioner CN Meena Nagaraj highlighted the government’s efforts to help former Naxals reintegrate into society by improving living conditions in these regions.

The administration is actively working to provide essential amenities such as electricity, drinking water, roads, and housing. During a recent meeting, officials discussed the progress of families transitioning back to mainstream society, addressing their needs and the government services available to them.

“Projects in Naxal-affected areas will be prioritized and completed within deadlines,” assured Nagaraj, emphasizing the importance of clearing blocked roads to facilitate easier travel. He also directed that government hospitals maintain adequate medical staff and that health check-ups be conducted with free medicine provided to residents.

In addition to infrastructure, the administration aims to ensure quality education for children and access to nutritious food at anganwadi centers for pregnant women and children. To address communication barriers, steps will be taken to enhance the BSNL mobile network in these interior regions.

Residents have expressed the need for swift action, particularly regarding road connectivity. Villager Shivappa urged the authorities to prioritize the development of roads and ensure that KSRTC buses operate in the area, underscoring the urgent need for improvements to support local communities.
