Chikkamagaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has dismissed viral claims regarding an explosion of an Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM) on a bus operating the Chikkamagaluru-Sringeri-Bengaluru route.

According to KSRTC, the ETM did not explode; rather, it melted due to prolonged exposure to heat. The machine was improperly placed on the bus’s bonnet, which became excessively hot under the sun. The conductor had stored the ETM in a plastic pouch that could not withstand the heat, leading to the melting incident.

The transport department has since issued instructions to conductors to avoid placing machines on hot surfaces to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
