A Google Maps image showing a crack at the popular Rani Jhari tourist spot near Kalasa in Chikkamagaluru district has caused widespread alarm among locals and tourists. The image, which recently went viral on social media, raised fears about the safety of the area, particularly in light of recent landslides and heavy rainfall in the Malnad region.

Rani Jhari, a popular trekking destination also known as Rani Jhari Edge Point, became the focus of concern as social media users speculated that the crack could indicate potential instability in the hillock, putting lives at risk.

In response, officials from the Revenue Department inspected the site and confirmed that no such crack exists. They reassured the public that the area is safe, and the image does not reflect the current state of the hillock.
