A horrifying discovery was made near Challakere Gate in Chitradurga, where a stray dog was found carrying the mutilated remains of a newborn infant near Venkateshwara School. The infant’s body, severely damaged with only half remaining, is believed to have been carried from Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital due to improper disposal of remains.

The careless handling of deceased infants’ bodies has raised concerns, as it attracts stray dogs to such locations. The Chitradurga Women’s Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The incident came to light when a dog was seen dragging the remains to the Devaraj Arasu Educational Institution. Security staff at the institution witnessed the gruesome act.

Police investigation, led by DSP Dinakar, along with Town Police Station CPI Naheem Ahmad and PSI Raghavendra, included a canine unit to gather evidence. The infant’s remains bore dog bite marks, with significant damage to the right hand and half the body. Authorities suspect the infant was discarded by unknown individuals.

The incident underscores the urgent need for proper medical waste disposal to prevent such tragedies and the risks posed by stray dogs.
