In a dramatic scene straight out of a movie, a woman stormed into a wedding hall in Chitradurga and stopped her husband’s secret second marriage. The incident unfolded at Gayatri Kalyana Mantapa, where Karthik Naik of Tippaghatta, Arasikere, was preparing to wed another woman—despite already being married.
Tanuja, his wife from Mushenala in Davanagere district, arrived with her family and confronted him in front of stunned guests. Accusing Karthik of attempting a second marriage for dowry, she allegedly pulled off her slipper and slapped him. The second bride’s family, unaware of Karthik’s first marriage, was left in shock. Chitradurga police have initiated an investigation.
In another wedding disruption last month, Pallavi, a postgraduate from Karnataka’s Hassan district, walked away from the altar moments before tying the knot. The ceremony, held at Sri Adichunchanagiri Kalyana Mantapa, was called off after Pallavi locked herself in a room upon receiving a phone call. She later revealed she was in love with someone else.
Despite pleas from both families and even police intervention, Pallavi stood firm. The groom, Venugopal G, a government school teacher, also chose to walk away, saying he wouldn’t marry someone unwilling.
