Christians worldwide mark Good Friday with re-enactments of Jesus’ crucifixion
On Friday, Christians around the world came together to observe Good Friday with prayers, processions, and vivid re-enactments of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Across diverse locations, from bustling cities to serene beaches and grand cathedrals, believers gathered in reflection of sacrifice and faith.
In Jerusalem, worshippers participated in a solemn procession, retracing the path of Jesus. Meanwhile, in Germany, the Italian community took part in a re-enactment of Christ’s crucifixion in Bensheim. In the Philippines, Ruben Enaje once again underwent the dramatic re-enactment of being nailed to the cross in San Fernando, a powerful symbol of devotion.
In various parts of the world, the observance reflected local customs and traditions. In Paris, the “Stations of the Cross” procession led worshippers in prayer outside the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Skopje, North Macedonia, saw a gathering for the Passion of the Lord, while in Cyprus, villagers took part in a re-enactment of Jesus’ death during Orthodox Easter. In Durban, South Africa, the faithful gathered on the beach for baptisms and prayers.
These gatherings, steeped in faith and culture, highlighted the global significance of Good Friday, marking the crucifixion of Christ and preparing the way for Easter celebrations.
