In a heart-wrenching incident, a Class 10 student, Prabhavathi Chathriya, lost her life in a fatal road accident barely two minutes away from her home. The mishap occurred on Gachibowli flyover on Saturday afternoon, after a double-decker bus belonging to HMDA collided with the bike she was riding pillion on.

According to the Raidurgam police, Prabhavathi had completed her second language exam at ZPH School, Dargah, around 12:30 pm and was returning to her residence in TNGO Colony, Gachibowli, accompanied by her brother, Sumith Chathriya (21).

While midway across the flyover, the double-decker bus rammed into their two-wheeler from behind. Sumith, who was wearing a helmet, fell to the right and survived with minor injuries. Tragically, Prabhavathi fell to the left and was run over by the bus, sustaining fatal head injuries.

A police official remarked sorrowfully, “Her home was just two minutes away from where the accident happened.

This devastating incident underscores the ever-present dangers on city roads, even for those so close to the safety of home.
