Mangaluru: Coastal Karnataka is abuzz with festive preparations as Christians gear up to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Midnight masses and carol singing will mark the joyous occasion, starting at 7 PM in churches across the Mangalore Diocese, including Bantwal, Puttur, Moodbidri, Kasaragod, Vitla, Mogarnad, Mudipu, and Mangaluru city.

The celebrations will culminate with midnight Masses led by priests. The Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, will officiate the midnight Mass at the iconic Rosario Cathedral in Mangaluru. The services will conclude with the distribution of candles, exchanging of Christmas greetings, and cultural programs.

Festive Atmosphere Everywhere
Homes and churches have been beautifully decorated with nativity cribs, stars, bells, and festive lights, adding to the Christmas cheer. Traditional Christmas treats, such as cakes and Kuswar, are highly sought after, with church organizations actively preparing and sharing these delicacies with the less fortunate.

Meanwhile, the sale of Christmas trees, decorations, and Santa Claus costumes is thriving in local markets. Churches across the region are illuminated, creating a magical ambiance for the season.

As the coastal region welcomes this season of love and giving, the spirit of unity and joy is palpable everywhere.
