Abu Dhabi, UAE: The BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi has been honoured with the prestigious Tolerance Award 2026 at the 3rd International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference (IDCT 2026), in recognition of its contribution to promoting global harmony, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.

The award recognises individuals and organisations whose work advances tolerance, intercultural dialogue, and social cohesion through measurable international impact. Recipients are selected by the conference’s scientific committee based on their contribution towards fostering understanding and cooperation among diverse communities.

The conference was organised by the Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies (ESCRS) and the Abrahamic Family House in partnership with several institutions, including the Emirates Journalists Association and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

International recognition for promoting harmony

Held in Abu Dhabi under the UAE’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of the Family, the conference brought together government representatives, academic institutions, faith leaders, international organisations, media professionals, and civil society members to discuss intercultural dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

The award recognises the Mandir’s contribution to fostering harmony and social unity through initiatives such as the Festival of Harmony, Omsiyyat, and various humanitarian outreach programmes undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing humanitarian crises.

Officials stated that the honour reflects the collective efforts of thousands of volunteers and visitors who have contributed towards making the Mandir a welcoming space for people from all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.

Conference explores impact of AI and new media

The theme of IDCT 2026 was “The Impact of New Media and AI on Family and Community.”

The conference focused on understanding how emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital media are influencing family structures, social interactions, and community relationships across the world.

The event reflected the UAE’s continuing commitment to promoting intercultural understanding, dialogue, and human fraternity while addressing contemporary social challenges.

Brahmavihari Swami delivers keynote address

The award was received by HH Brahmavihari Swami, Head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi, from HE Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies, and HE Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities.

In his keynote address, Brahmavihari Swami reflected on the future of family, faith, and technology, urging participants to consider not only what artificial intelligence can accomplish but also how it is shaping humanity itself.

Drawing from wisdom found in multiple civilisations and faith traditions, including Hindu, Christian, Islamic, African, Egyptian, and Mesopotamian heritage, he emphasised the importance of strong families as the foundation of strong societies.

He highlighted timeless values such as unity, mutual respect, and family cohesion, noting that cultures across the world share common principles regarding the importance of family life.

Message of stronger families resonates globally

One of the central themes of his address was the concept of “Ghar Sabha,” a family practice encouraged by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, where family members spend dedicated time together daily in prayer, conversation, reflection, and listening without technological distractions.

Brahmavihari Swami stressed that meaningful relationships are built through genuine presence and engagement rather than constant digital connectivity.

He remarked that while technology continues to advance rapidly, human values must evolve alongside it.

According to him, innovation requires values, progress requires purpose, and the future depends not only on smarter technologies but also on stronger families and more compassionate communities.

Summing up his message, he stated that society requires “AI-empowered families, not merely AI-powered families.”

Mandir continues to promote peace and unity

The BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi has emerged as an important symbol of interfaith harmony, cultural understanding, and community service in the United Arab Emirates.

Combining traditional Indian architecture with modern sustainability practices, the Mandir serves as a place of worship, learning, and community engagement, welcoming visitors from diverse faiths and backgrounds.

The Tolerance Award 2026 further strengthens its reputation as a global platform promoting peace, dialogue, and coexistence while reflecting the UAE’s vision of fostering harmony among cultures and religions.
