The Jain community in Belagavi is preparing for an elaborate Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav on April 10 with a variety of cultural, educational, and spiritual events. Addressing the press, Rajendra Jain, honorary secretary of the festival committee, announced that the 2,624th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara, will be marked with great fervor.
A blood donation drive will take place at Bharatesh Shikshan Sansthe on April 3 and Gomatesh Vidyapeeth on April 7. On April 5, a range of cultural contests, including bhajans, talent showcases, duet performances, and Jain culinary competitions, will be held.
A massive bike rally featuring 500 participants is planned for April 6, starting from CPED Ground at 8 AM and covering major city roads before concluding at Mahaveer Bhavan, where rangoli and dance contests will take place. April 7 will feature fancy dress and drama performances, while the Jinayakshi Jwalamalini play is scheduled for April 8 at 7 PM.
Former MLA Sanjay Patil, festival committee president, revealed that the main procession on April 10 will start at Tilak Chowk, featuring 40 thematic floats, passing through key city routes. Raviraj Patil, senior lawyer, confirmed arrangements for prasad for 25,000 attendees. Additionally, World Namokara Day on April 9 at 7:30 AM will witness participation from 10,000 devotees.
