Mangaluru: The Diocese of Mangalore is all set to observe its historic Annual Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, January 4, 2026, coinciding with the Feast of the Epiphany. This solemn public expression of faith, held every year, draws thousands of devotees onto the streets of the city to honour the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

The annual procession stands as a powerful public witness of faith, symbolising the “journey of pilgrims of hope,” through which the Catholic community carries the message of Christ into the heart of the city through prayer, hymns, and the proclamation of the Word of God.

Theme and spiritual reflection

The reflection for this year’s Eucharistic Procession is centred on “Dilexi te” (I have loved you), inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Leo XIV. The Word of God during the concluding ceremony will be preached by Rev. Fr Abraham D’Souza, SVD, at the Rosario Cathedral grounds.

Event schedule

The religious observances for the afternoon are scheduled as follows:

  • 3.30 pm: Solemn Holy Mass at Milagres Church
  • 4.15 pm: Commencement of the Eucharistic Procession from Milagres Church
  • 5.30 pm: Proclamation of the Word of God followed by Solemn Benediction at Rosario Cathedral

Procession route and observance

The procession will pass through major thoroughfares of the city, including Hampankatta and the Clock Tower area. The Blessed Sacrament will be carried on a beautifully adorned vehicle, accompanied by musical bands and choir groups, maintaining a disciplined, prayerful, and reverent atmosphere throughout the route.

The Annual Eucharistic Procession remains one of the most significant spiritual events in the Diocese of Mangalore, uniting clergy, religious, and laity in a shared expression of faith, devotion, and hope.
