Dubai: The Hindu Temple, Dubai, has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification, marking a significant milestone in information security management for religious and community institutions.

According to the certification records referenced by the Temple through the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), The Hindu Temple, Dubai has been recognised as the first temple globally to achieve ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification.

The certification, issued on August 14, 2026, is valid until August 13, 2029. The first surveillance audit is due on August 13, 2027, while the second surveillance audit is scheduled for August 13, 2028. The recertification audit is due on May 13, 2029.

Certification strengthens information security

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is an internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). The certification demonstrates the Temple’s efforts to establish structured systems for managing information-security risks and protecting information and digital assets.

The certification process was completed through Cyber AI Certification and involved assessment, implementation of information-security controls, an internal audit and a certification audit.

For The Hindu Temple, Dubai, the achievement forms part of its continuing efforts to adopt internationally recognised standards across its governance and operational systems.

Building on a framework of international standards

The ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification adds to a series of international certifications and accreditations achieved by the Temple in 2024.

These include ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Systems, ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 22000 for Food Safety Management Systems, and HACCP for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points.

With the addition of ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the Temple has expanded its focus to include information security, digital systems and technology-related risks.

The certification provides a structured framework for identifying and managing information-security risks, strengthening cybersecurity and operational controls, improving preparedness for security incidents, and promoting responsible governance and accountability.

Focus on devotee and stakeholder trust

The Temple stated that the certification goes beyond obtaining another international standard and reflects its commitment to maintaining the trust of devotees and other stakeholders.

As technology and digital platforms become increasingly integrated into the Temple’s operations, information relating to devotees, employees, suppliers, stakeholders, third-party service providers and other associated parties requires appropriate protection.

The ISO/IEC 27001:2022 framework supports the Temple’s efforts to strengthen its information-security practices and manage risks associated with its growing digital operations.

Moving towards a digital and paperless environment

The Temple is also pursuing a broader digital transformation aimed at creating a more paperless and cashless operating environment.

The initiative seeks to make Temple services and internal processes more efficient, transparent and convenient while reducing dependence on paper and strengthening digital payment and transaction processes.

According to the Temple, the implementation of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 provides an information-security foundation for this digitalisation journey. It is intended to ensure that the adoption of new technologies is supported by appropriate security, risk-management and governance controls.

The Temple acknowledged the contribution of its Temple Committee, Management, IT Governance Team and staff in achieving the certification.

The Temple also expressed appreciation to Cyber AI Certification for undertaking the certification process.

The achievement reflects a collective effort to adopt global best practices and strengthen the systems and processes supporting the Temple’s operations.

The Temple emphasised that achieving certification is not the end of the process. Maintaining international standards requires continuous monitoring, compliance, review and improvement.

The Temple plans to continue strengthening its management systems, information-security practices, policies and controls in response to changing operational requirements, technologies and cybersecurity risks.

The new certification complements the Temple’s existing standards in quality, safety, sustainability and food safety, while adding a dedicated focus on information security and digital governance.
