Mangaluru: Fuddar Prathisttan organised the Fuddar Prathisttan Puraskar 2026 at MCC Bank, recognising outstanding achievers from the Mangaluru and Udupi dioceses.

The event marked a significant milestone as 65 special achievers from fields including sports, literary arts, performing arts, and PhD research were felicitated on a dedicated platform for the first time.

Two decades of recognising excellence

For over 20 years, Fuddar Prathisttan has honoured more than 3,000 academic achievers from the Catholic community. In recent years, the initiative expanded to include sports achievers at international, national, and state levels.

This year’s programme further broadened its scope by exclusively recognising top achievers across diverse fields.

Inauguration and dignitaries

The programme was inaugurated by Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank, who lit the ceremonial lamp.

The event was presided over by Nigel Pereira, President of Fuddar Prathisttan.

The Chief Guest and keynote speaker, M P Noronha, Principal District Government Pleader of Dakshina Kannada, addressed the gathering.

Inspiring messages to achievers

In his inaugural address, Anil Lobo congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to stay connected to their roots, lead value-based lives, and serve society.

He highlighted that recognising achievers across multiple fields reflects the community’s commitment to encouraging talent and excellence.

In his keynote address, M P Noronha stressed the importance of choosing meaningful careers, staying grounded, and nurturing empathy. He noted that true success lies not just in achievements but in compassion and contribution to society.

Voices of achievers

On behalf of the awardees, Reuban Machado, Roshvitha D’Sa, and Vinitha D’Souza shared their success stories and expressed gratitude to the organisers for recognising their efforts.

Community support acknowledged

The organisers honoured management committee members and donors for their generous support in making the event successful.

The contributions and guidance of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh and Udupi Pradesh were also acknowledged.

The programme began with a welcome address by Nigel Pereira, followed by a vote of thanks by Vivid D’Souza. The event was compered by Norbert Misquith and Ida Furtado.

Celebrating talent and community spirit

The event concluded with a fellowship meal, bringing together achievers, families, and community members in celebration.
