The Karnataka Campus Ministry of Jesus Youth joyfully launched the much-anticipated Campus Habba, a three-day spiritual fest, on October 11, 2024, at Loyola Hall, St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. This gathering, themed around faith, hope, and love, drew 700 participants and volunteers from across Karnataka, creating an atmosphere of vibrant unity and deep spiritual reflection.
The event began with an inspiring inaugural ceremony presided over by Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore. He was joined by a distinguished group of dignitaries, including Fr. Melwyn Pinto, Rector of St. Aloysius, Justin P.J., coordinator for Jesus Youth India, and Victor Anup Joe, Karnataka coordinator for Jesus Youth. Their presence underscored the importance of spiritual engagement in today’s world, particularly for the youth.
Minola Saldanha, the event coordinator, delivered a powerful keynote address that set the stage for the event. Her words of inspiration centered on fostering a deeper understanding of faith while encouraging participants to use this time for personal growth and connection with their beliefs. The keynote highlighted the objectives of the three-day gathering, which include introspective spiritual sessions, communal activities, and transformative experiences aimed at deepening one’s bond with the divine.
Bishop Saldanha’s address further uplifted the spiritual atmosphere, offering guidance and encouragement to the attendees. His words emphasized the importance of faith in navigating life’s challenges and inspired the participants to fully engage with the event’s offerings. The inauguration ended with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of organizers and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make Campus Habba a reality.
The evening continued with a breathtaking performance by the Vox Christi Gospel Band, an internationally renowned group known for their spiritually evocative performances. Their concert, Vox Christi Concert, filled the hall with soulful music, leaving the audience deeply moved and connected to the spiritual essence of the event. Many attendees reported that the concert was a highlight of their experience, enriching their sense of belonging and community.
Over the next two days, the participants will engage in a series of thoughtfully designed activities that include gospel concerts, spiritual workshops, group exercises, and interactive sessions. The resource persons for the event—Livin Varghese, Immanuel Joseph, Naveen Lobo, Fr. Prakash Thankappan SAC, Esmin Thayana Phils, and Roshan James—will lead these sessions, offering insights on personal growth, spirituality, and the importance of fostering faith in the modern world.
The three-day event promises to be a memorable experience for all who attend. It is expected to create lasting spiritual transformation, foster deeper connections within the Jesus Youth community, and inspire participants to carry the values of faith, hope, and love beyond the walls of the gathering. The campus ministry looks forward to seeing how this event will positively impact the participants, encouraging them to become agents of spiritual growth in their own communities.
Campus Habba will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression, and participants are already looking forward to future editions of this spiritually enriching event.
