Dubai: Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, in collaboration with FOI, organised a blood donation camp at the Dubai Health Authority Headquarters, Al Jaddaf, on August 16 as part of the celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day.
Held with the message “Service to the Nation is Service to Humanity,” the initiative sought to give a humanitarian dimension to the national celebration by encouraging people to contribute towards saving lives through blood donation.
Blood donation becomes a message of service
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from donors who came forward to make blood donations and contribute to the cause of saving precious lives.
The organisers highlighted that blood donation is not only a humanitarian service but also an expression of solidarity with people facing medical emergencies and difficult circumstances.
The initiative encouraged participants to view Independence Day not merely as an occasion for celebrations but also as an opportunity to serve society.
Indian Consul General inaugurates camp
Dr Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Consul General of India in Dubai, attended the programme and inaugurated the blood donation camp.
On the occasion, he was felicitated on behalf of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah by Mr Vishwanath Shetty, President, and Mr Praveen Kumar Shetty, Director of the Managing Committee, in the presence of members of the organisation’s Advisory Committee.
His presence added significance to the service-oriented initiative organised to commemorate India’s Independence Day.
Organisers acknowledge volunteers and donors
Karnataka Sangha Sharjah acknowledged the efforts of the Directors of the Managing Committee, members of the Advisory Committee and the Executive Committee in organising the camp.
The organisation also expressed its gratitude to the volunteers, members, well-wishers and collaborators whose support contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
Special appreciation was extended to the voluntary blood donors who participated in the camp and contributed to the humanitarian cause.
Independence Day celebration with a humanitarian purpose
The blood donation camp provided a meaningful way to commemorate India’s 80th Independence Day while promoting the values of unity, service and humanity.
The initiative reflected the belief that national service can take many forms and that even a simple act of donating blood can offer hope to someone in need.
The programme concluded with a call to continue promoting humanitarian service in the community, summed up in the message: “Donate Blood – Save Lives; Keep the Lamp of Humanity Burning.”
