Dubai: The Karwar Diocese Dubai Community (KDDC) successfully organised the Easter Cup 2026 cricket tournament on March 29, bringing together over 300 participants and more than 1,500 spectators in a vibrant celebration of sports and community spirit.
The tournament featured 30 teams, including 20 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams, with matches held at Sports Bay Grounds in Karama and Dunes Cricket Academy.
Winners across categories
In the men’s category, Strikers XI – Merit Freight emerged as champions, while Mangalore Strikers secured the runner-up position.
In the women’s category, Team Spartans clinched the championship title, with Friends Dubai finishing as runners-up.
KDDC congratulated all winners and participants for their competitive spirit and sportsmanship.

The tournament was inaugurated by Fr. Victor Fernandes, Director of St. Mary’s Mangalorean Community, who attended as the Chief Guest. Joseph Mathias, Coordinator of the community, was the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony.
Other dignitaries present included Mr. Viyon Veigas, Vice Coordinator; Ms. Diana Dsouza, Secretary; Mr. Sebastian Rodrigues, President of KDDC; and several sponsors and well-wishers.
The programme began with a prayer song by Jackson and team, followed by a welcome address and trophy unveiling. The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of KDDC in organising the event within a short span of time.
