The Diocese of Mangalore has officially announced a major list of 62 clerical transfers and fresh pastoral appointments for the year 2026, reflecting its continued commitment to strengthening parish life and diocesan administration.

The newly issued appointments include parish priests, assistant parish priests, administrators, and directors of various diocesan institutions. These changes are scheduled to take effect between May and June 2026.

Five newly ordained priests receive first assignments

Among the most significant announcements is the first pastoral posting of five newly ordained priests, who will begin their ministry in different parishes across the diocese.

Avil Santhumayor has been appointed Assistant Parish Priest of Angelore. Jeevan D’Souza will serve at Bejai, while Loyd Rohan D’Souza has been posted to Cordel.

Similarly, Joel Monteiro has been assigned to Bendur, and Denzil Rodrigues will begin duties at Urwa.

Strengthening pastoral care

The diocese noted that the annual transfers are a regular pastoral exercise aimed at renewing parish leadership, supporting faith communities, and improving administrative efficiency across institutions.

Such appointments also provide younger clergy with valuable opportunities to begin parish ministry under experienced leadership while serving the spiritual needs of the faithful.

Community awaits new chapter

Across Mangaluru and surrounding regions, parish communities are expected to welcome their new priests in the coming weeks. Transfers and appointments are often seen as moments of gratitude, renewal, and fresh beginnings for both clergy and parishioners.

As the Diocese of Mangalore moves into another pastoral year, the changes reflect a shared mission of service, faith formation, and stronger community outreach.
