Mangaluru: The St Anthony Shrine at Milagres Church marked the fourth day of the novena leading up to the annual relic feast of St Anthony of Padua on February 9.

Fr Chethan Lobo, OFM Cap, editor of Sevak Konkani Monthly, presided over the Eucharistic Mass, accompanied by Fr JB Crasta, director of St Anthony Charitable Institutions, and Fr Avinash Pais, assistant director of the ashram.

Delivering a sermon on “The Eucharist: Spiritual Nourishment for the Pilgrims of Hope,” Fr Chethan emphasized the Eucharist as the foundation of Christian life, providing strength and spiritual sustenance. He urged believers to deepen their devotion and embody hope in their faith journey.

Following the Mass, Fr Nelson Peris led the novena, focusing on prayers for the youth. The Padre Pio Choir Group, Bejai, enriched the gathering with their melodious Konkani hymns.

The novena, which continues until February 15, has seen enthusiastic participation, with attendees also sharing Payasam as part of the community spirit.
