Doha: Renowned playback singer and celebrated “Melody King” Rajesh Krishnan was conferred the prestigious ‘Swara Yogi’ title during Sambrama 2026, a grand cultural festival organised by Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) on behalf of the Kannada community in Qatar.
The honour was presented in recognition of his immense contribution to Kannada music and culture over the years.
Grand Celebration of Kannada Culture
The colourful cultural event was held at the DPS MIS Auditorium, Al Wakra, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Kannadigas residing across Qatar. The felicitation of Rajesh Krishnan emerged as one of the highlights of the programme, drawing widespread appreciation from the audience.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including H.E. Vipul, Ambassador of India to Qatar; Mr Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission; and Mr Harish Pande, First Secretary at the Embassy of India.

Also present were Mr A.P. Manikantan, President of the Indian Cultural Centre; Ms Fatima Al Madeed, Deputy Director of Administration at Qatar Auto Museum; and Mr Khalid Al Fakroo, senior petroleum engineer.

Office-bearers, management committee members, and advisors of Karnataka Sangha Qatar joined the dignitaries on stage during the felicitation ceremony.

It highlighted how his melodious voice and emotionally rich singing have touched the lives of millions of music lovers, making his songs an integral part of their memories and emotions.

Following the felicitation, Rajesh Krishnan enthralled the audience with a soulful musical performance featuring some of his evergreen Kannada hits.
His rendition of popular melodies rekindled nostalgic memories among expatriate Kannadigas and created an atmosphere of celebration and cultural pride. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause and appreciation throughout the evening.
