
Sabarimala Utsavabali Ritual Begins with Devotion and Grandeur
The eight-day ‘Utsavabali’ ritual, a key event of the annual festival at Sabarimala Temple, commenced on the second day of the festival on Thursday. Led by thantri Kandararu Brahmadathan and attended by melsanthi Arunkumar Namboothiri, the three-hour offering in honor of Lord Ayyappa’s sub-deities began at 10:30 AM and concluded with Utsavali darshan at 1:30 PM. The sacred observance will continue until April 10.
Other significant rituals performed at the temple included Udayasthamana pooja, Ashtabhishekam, and Pushpabhishekam. The five-day Vilakkinezhunnellippu will begin on April 6, followed by the Pallivetta ritual on April 10.
The festival will conclude on April 11 with the ‘Aarattu’ ceremony at Arattukadavu, near the Pampa River opposite Pampa Lord Ganapathi Temple. The sacred procession carrying the ‘Thidambu’ of Lord Ayyappa will depart from Sannidhanam at 9 AM before the final ceremonial bath at 11:30 AM.
