Mangaluru: The Parish Pastoral Council of St Theresa Church, Paldane, in collaboration with the Catechism teachers, organised a refreshing nature outing titled “A Day in Nature” on Sunday. The event aimed to promote unity, spiritual reflection, and appreciation for the environment among the parish community.

Exploring nature’s beauty at Honnavar

As part of the programme, the group visited the scenic Holy Cross Brothers Institution situated along the banks of the Sharavathi River in Honnavar. Surrounded by lush greenery and the serene sounds of flowing water, participants experienced a day of spiritual and environmental rejuvenation.

The outing offered a chance for parish members to deepen their connection with nature and each other through prayer, reflection, and fellowship.

Faith and harmony as guiding themes

The day began with a prayer led by Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Parish Priest of St Theresa Church, who inaugurated the trip.
In his message, Fr Coelho emphasised the divine relationship between humanity and creation, saying,

“Nature is a gift from God to humankind. It is an inseparable part of human life throughout the day. This trip by the Parish Council will serve as a means of unity and harmony in their future service.”

His words reminded participants of the importance of gratitude and stewardship toward the environment as a form of faith in action.

Active participation and community spirit

The trip saw active participation from parish members, including Deacon Rovin Lopez, Parish Council Vice President Elias Fernandes, Secretary Austin Monteiro, Catechism Teachers’ Coordinator Lizzy Fernandes, Spiritual Committee Coordinator Priscilla (Pressie) Fernandes, along with ward leaders, representatives, association presidents, and religious sisters.

The gathering concluded with moments of shared reflection and gratitude, as participants renewed their commitment to harmony within the parish and with nature.
