Ajman, UAE: Thumbay University Hospital has officially launched the Thumbay Institute of Neurosciences, a specialised centre dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex disorders of the brain, spine, and nervous system. The inauguration marks a significant advancement in specialised healthcare within the Thumbay Group ecosystem and further strengthens the hospital’s position as a leading academic medical centre in the region.

The institute aims to provide comprehensive, patient-centred neurological care by integrating advanced technology, multidisciplinary expertise, and streamlined treatment pathways under one roof.
Inauguration led by healthcare leaders
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder and President of Thumbay Group, in the presence of senior healthcare leaders and dignitaries from across the network.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Abdul Karim Msaddi, Consultant Chief Neurosurgeon and Chairman of the ArabSpine Course Diploma and Dubai International Spine Conference (DISC), who highlighted the importance of specialised neuroscience facilities in addressing growing neurological health challenges.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice President of the Healthcare Division, emphasised that neurological disorders require precision, speed, and multidisciplinary expertise. He noted that the institute brings together advanced technology, skilled specialists, and a patient-first approach to enhance the quality of neuroscience care across the UAE and beyond.
Comprehensive neurological care under one roof
The Thumbay Institute of Neurosciences is built around a multidisciplinary team comprising neurosurgeons, neurologists, interventional radiologists, neurotechnicians, and rehabilitation specialists.
The neurology department will offer treatment for a wide range of conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, migraines, neuropathy, vertigo, and sleep disorders. These services are supported by advanced diagnostic tools such as EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and neuroimaging.
Advanced surgical capabilities
On the surgical front, the institute is equipped to handle complex brain, spine, and nerve conditions using microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques. These include treatment for brain tumours, vascular abnormalities, traumatic brain injuries, spinal disorders, and paediatric neurological conditions.
Specialised procedures such as cranioplasty, hydrocephalus management, and advanced spinal fixation will be carried out using cutting-edge technologies like neuronavigation and intraoperative neuro-monitoring, ensuring precision and improved patient outcomes.
Technology-driven rehabilitation services
A key highlight of the institute is its focus on advanced neuro-rehabilitation supported by technology-driven therapies. Patients will have access to robotic rehabilitation, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, gait and motion analysis, EMG-based functional assessments, and exoskeleton-assisted rehabilitation using systems such as Ekso Bionics.
These services are designed to restore mobility, independence, and overall quality of life for patients recovering from neurological conditions.
Streamlined patient care approach
The institute follows a structured care pathway that ensures patients receive timely and appropriate treatment. Neurologists manage non-surgical conditions, while neurosurgeons intervene when required, eliminating unnecessary delays and complexities in care.
This integrated approach aims to enhance patient experience and deliver efficient, high-quality healthcare outcomes.
Strengthening regional healthcare
The launch of the Thumbay Institute of Neurosciences represents a major step forward in strengthening specialised healthcare services in the UAE. It reflects Thumbay Group’s ongoing commitment to innovation, excellence, and patient-focused care.
With its comprehensive offerings and advanced infrastructure, the institute is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing neurological healthcare needs in the region while setting new benchmarks in medical excellence.
