Dubai: The Moodbidri Varado Catholics in the UAE, under the banner of Udenthichim Neketram, are set to celebrate Monti Fest 2025 on Sunday, September 7, at the Iranian Club, Dubai. The celebration will run from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and promises a day of devotion, gratitude, and community togetherness.
A union of Moodbidri Deanery parishes
Founded in 2005, Udenthichim Neketram unites 14 parishes from the Moodbidri Deanery of the Diocese of Mangaluru. The organisation’s mission is to support parishioners living in the UAE, preserve Konkani culture and faith, and extend support to parish initiatives back in India.
Over the years, the group has organised several community events to foster youth engagement, cultural exchange, and spiritual growth. While the past few years were relatively subdued, 2025 marks a new beginning as both senior members and younger generations come together to revitalise the original vision of the union.
Programme highlights of Monti Fest 2025
The day will begin with a floral offering to Mother Mary by children, symbolising devotion and gratitude. This will be followed by the traditional Novem Jevan, a vegetarian family meal that carries the essence of the harvest feast.
The cultural segment of the event will showcase music, dance, skits, and games, celebrating the vibrant Konkani heritage. The highlight of the programme will be the Comedy Express by the acclaimed Konkani Comedy Prince Pradeep Barboza and his team, promising laughter and entertainment for all.
Faith, fellowship, and heritage
Monti Fest, deeply rooted in Konkani Catholic tradition, is a celebration that blends faith, family values, and community spirit. Organisers believe that reviving this event in 2025 will further strengthen community bonds and provide a platform for showcasing cultural talent among parishioners in the UAE.
Udenthichim Neketram has extended a warm invitation to all parishioners and well-wishers to join the celebration. The organisers emphasised that the event is not just about tradition but about coming together as one family in faith and fellowship.
