Dubai: In a historic first for the Konkani cultural scene in the UAE, the USWAS–Shirva Kala Utsav 2025 has achieved a record-breaking house full status even before the countdown began, with all tickets sold out a month ahead of the event. This unprecedented response highlights the unity, enthusiasm, and cultural pride of the Konkani-speaking community.
A tribute through Wilfy Nite: Golden Melodies
The highlight of this year’s Kala Utsav will be the grand musical evening “Wilfy Nite: Golden Melodies”, dedicated to the legendary Konkani composer Wilfy Rebimbus. The soulful tribute will feature the Rebimbus Family along with celebrated singers and musicians, including the much-loved duo Papan and Joswin. The programme promises a nostalgic journey through Wilfy’s timeless songs, evoking cherished memories for music lovers.
Comedy, dance, and entertainment galore
Adding a lighter touch to the evening, renowned comedian Jimmy Moses will perform his signature comedy act, expected to leave audiences in splits. The entertainment will be further elevated by vibrant dance performances choreographed by Ocean Events, ensuring a lively cultural blend. Popular emcee Dony Correa will anchor the evening with his trademark energy and charisma, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
Community pride and cultural significance
The organisers of USWAS–Shirva expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming response. “This isn’t just about a sold-out show—it is a reflection of the Konkani community’s unity and their commitment to preserving and celebrating our cultural heritage,” said the committee in a statement.
The USWAS Kala Utsav 2025 is set to be more than an entertainment programme; it stands as a celebration of identity, culture, and togetherness, reaffirming the enduring legacy of Konkani art.
