Anti-Naxal Operations in Chhattisgarh: Arrests and Surrender

Anti Naxal Operations In Chhattisgarh Arrests And Surrender

Chhattisgarh: In recent developments, seven Naxalites, including one with a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, were apprehended in Bijapur district, while another female ultra surrendered in Narayanpur, police reported today (June 27).

According to a statement by Bijapur police, the arrests were made during a search operation conducted by a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police. The operation targeted meetings held by Naxalites for illegal levy collection across different villages under Bhairamgarh police station limits.

Among the arrested, Ramdhar Veko (24) was identified as the head of the Keshkutul Janatana Sarkar squad of Maoists. He was wanted for various offenses, including attacks on police teams and involvement in an IED blast and firing incidents earlier this year.

Additionally, in Narayanpur, Jayanti Gota, a woman Naxalite associated with CPI (Maoist) since 2020, surrendered, citing disillusionment with the Maoist ideology and atrocities committed by senior leaders. She was active as the deputy commander of the Aader area militia under the Indravati area committee.

The surrender of Gota highlights the impact of increased police presence and counter-insurgency operations in the region, fostering a growing trust among villagers towards law enforcement agencies. Authorities anticipate more Naxalites to renounce violence and surrender soon.
