Lokayukta police have arrested Bangarappa, the sub-divisional forest officer of Byndoor zone, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 to issue a permit for cutting a jackfruit tree. The incident unfolded following a complaint by Mohammed Anwar Hassan, prompting a sting operation that caught Bangarappa red-handed.

The operation, supervised by Nataraja M A, Lokayukta police superintendent of Mangaluru division, and led by Prakash K, DySP Udupi Lokayukta, highlights the commitment to combating corruption. Efforts involved a team of dedicated personnel ensuring accountability.
