
Bengaluru College Student Assaulted by Seniors Over Facial Hair Dispute
A disturbing incident at the Krupanidhi Group of Institutions in Bengaluru has led to a college student being assaulted by his seniors for allegedly refusing to shave his moustache and beard. The victim, Goutham, was attacked by seniors identified as Xavier Issac, Vishnu, and Sharath after he joined the college in April.
The altercation escalated on August 30 when Goutham was forcibly taken to a church in Hadosiddapura. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Goutham’s refusal to comply with their demands resulted in an assault, leaving him with a fractured shoulder. He has since undergone surgery, and his family reportedly faced threats from the accused at the hospital.
A case has been filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, unlawful assembly, rioting, and criminal intimidation. The police are currently investigating the incident.
The case highlights serious concerns about student safety and the need for stricter enforcement of anti-harassment measures in educational institutions.
