A 21-year-old contractual helper at Bengaluru’s Jayadeva Hospital was arrested for allegedly recording videos inside a women’s washroom. The incident came to light on October 31 when a hospital employee found a mobile phone on the washroom windowsill in the basement. Upon unlocking it, she discovered videos of herself, leading to immediate shock and alarm.
The woman called for help, and Yallalinga, a native of Kalaburagi and a ward helper at the hospital, approached her, claiming ownership of the phone. Hospital staff detained him, and he was later handed over to the police. A case was filed under Section 77 (voyeurism) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
Yallalinga initially claimed he had left his phone in the washroom due to an emergency. However, discrepancies in his story raised suspicions, and investigators suggested this may be his first offense. He was granted bail by a local court, while the hospital has suspended him pending an investigation by its Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Committee.
