Three heads of cattle that were being transported inhumanely in a pick-up truck in the Kaniyoor hamlet of Belthangady taluk were saved by the Uppinanagady police.

Three heads of cattle with their legs tied were discovered inside the pick-up truck by a group of police officers under the direction of Police Sub-Inspector V. Bharath Kumar. 

Rakshit, the driver, said he was transporting the livestock to the slaughterhouse. Rakshit lacked the paperwork necessary to be able to move animals.

 The livestock were taken by the police and taken to a local cow rescue center. Rakshit was charged with violating the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Prevention of Cattle Act’s Sections 5, 7, and 12, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act’s Section 11 (D), and the Indian Penal Code
