Kalaburgi: Karnataka’s Kalaburgi police have filed a case against eight individuals for allegedly extorting money from government officials, including police officers. The accused, who initially presented themselves as working for Dalit community upliftment, were reported to have extorted up to ₹7 lakh from a police official.
The case was brought to light after a woman involved in the gang’s illegal activities filed a complaint. She claimed she was coerced into participating under threats of violence, including threats to her life.
The police have initiated an investigation based on her testimony and have registered a case against the eight accused.
