
Five Women Arrested for Gold Jewelry Theft on KSRTC Bus in Shivamogga
In Shivamogga, a significant breakthrough occurred as five women were apprehended in connection with the theft of gold jewelry from a vanity bag on a KSRTC bus. The arrested individuals include Shanti alias Karki (31) from Hosamane Bhadravati, Meenakshi (38) from Hanumanta Nagar, Savitri alias Baba (29), Durga alias Sunna Durga (29), and Sushilamma (66) from Bhovi Colony.
The incident took place on June 29 when a woman traveling to Davangere for a wedding discovered her vanity bag had been tampered with and her jewelry stolen. Prompt action followed a complaint lodged at Doddapet police station, leading to an investigation that uncovered their involvement in seven theft cases at the KSRTC bus station. The stolen gold jewelry, valued at Rs 8.13 lakh and weighing 122 grams, was recovered during the interrogation.
Inspector Ravi Patil from Doddpet Police Station spearheaded the arrests, assisted by a dedicated team including ASI Nagaraj, Palaksha Naik, Lacha Naik, Chandra Naik, Guru Naik, Nitin, Punit Rao, Prakash, Deepa S. Hubli, Pooja, Sumitra Bai, and Lakshmi.
The successful apprehension of the suspects marks a significant step in combating thefts in transit and ensuring the safety of passengers traveling via public transport.
