Mangaluru City police have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of Mohammad Sameer Ali, an active rowdy-sheeter, in the Ullal police station limits. City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal identified the arrested as Mohammad Naushad (26) from Katipalla, Niyaz (23) from Natekal, Tanneer Tannu (27) from Bajal, and Mohammad Istaal alias Ikk, alias Ikku (28) from Kaup. The police have seized the vehicle used in the crime and other related items from the accused.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was a result of an old enmity between Sameer and the accused. In 2018, Mohammad Naushad’s brother-in-law, Ilyas, also known as Target Ilyas, was murdered by Sameer, leading to a suspected retaliation by Naushad and his accomplices.

Naushad has a criminal history, with previous charges of kidnapping, violations of the NDPS Act, and attempted murder registered at the Suratkal and Sakaleshpur police stations. Tanneer Tannu has also been previously booked for cattle theft and attempted robbery at Bajpe police station.

The operation to arrest the accused was conducted under the guidance of the city police commissioner, with Assistant Commissioner of Police Dhanya N Nayak leading the investigation. Ullal Police Station Inspector Balakrishna HN and personnel from Ullal police station supported the operation.

Mohammad Sameer Ali (35) was chased down and hacked to death behind a furniture showroom building along NH-66 at Kallapu on Sunday night.
