In a significant operation, the Goa Police apprehended Nashir Ahamad Tigadi from Belagavi and Mohammad Haji from Vijapura for running a fraudulent recruitment agency. The arrests came following complaints from job seekers who were promised high-paying jobs abroad but instead found themselves in scam call centers in Cambodia and Thailand.
According to reports, the suspects operated a recruitment firm in Mumbai, enticing victims with promises of lucrative monthly salaries amounting to ₹1 lakh. Upon investigation, Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rahul Gupta stated that incriminating evidence linking the accused to the scam was recovered from their mobile phones.
The Goa Police are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in this illegal recruitment network. They have also issued warnings to families of individuals working in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam to verify their loved ones’ situations amidst concerns of involvement in cybercrimes. Authorities urge anyone implicated in such activities to return promptly to avoid legal repercussions.
This incident underscores the risks associated with fraudulent job offers and highlights the importance of thorough verification before pursuing opportunities abroad.
