A distressing incident unfolded in Vittal Padnur village where thieves stole gold jewellery from an elderly woman’s ear while she was asleep. B M Ibrahim, a resident of Palligadde, filed a complaint at the Vittal police station following the incident.

According to the complaint, the thieves broke the latch of the back door window of Ibrahim’s brother’s house to gain entry. They then used the same window to access the back door and enter the house unnoticed. Inside, they targeted Ibrahim’s mother, Aisamma, who was asleep in her room. The thieves covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm and forcibly snatched approximately 8 grams of gold jewellery from her ear. The stolen jewellery is estimated to be worth Rs 48,000.

Aisamma lost consciousness and fell due to the shock of the incident. The theft was discovered the following morning, and Aisamma was immediately admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru for medical treatment. The Vittal police station has registered a case in connection with the theft.

The incident has sparked concern and sympathy in the community, highlighting the vulnerability of elderly residents to such crimes.
