A minor altercation turned deadly in Sonnenahalli, west Bengaluru, on Sunday when a 27-year-old man, Keerthi, allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Murthy (52), to death. The incident occurred during a family gathering hosted by Murthy’s brother, where both men had been invited.
The gathering was held to observe Pitru Paksha, a Hindu ritual for honouring ancestors. According to reports, both Murthy and Keerthi were inebriated at the time of the incident. The confrontation began when Murthy, under the influence of alcohol, accidentally stepped on Keerthi’s feet.
The minor incident escalated into a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Keerthi allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Murthy, inflicting fatal injuries. **Murthy**, a long-time resident of the area, succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
