A woman from Maharashtra, Pratima Navankur, filed a complaint at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate, accusing her husband, Arif Inayat, of financial exploitation, neglecting their family’s medical needs, and threatening divorce if she didn’t comply with his demands. Pratima, who had moved to Jaipur in 2020, claimed that Arif, a gym trainer, deceived her into a relationship that led to her conversion and marriage on October 18, 2021.
Pratima alleges that Arif coerced her into a physical relationship before their marriage and later manipulated her into selling her ancestral property in Mumbai at a loss. Despite facing health challenges like dengue fever, Pratima said Arif abandoned her and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, neglecting their medical expenses.
The woman has also claimed that Arif’s political influence hindered her ability to report the matter to the Shastri Nagar police earlier. Upon receiving her complaint, authorities have initiated an investigation and prioritized her safety. Additionally, Pratima revealed that Arif was already married with five children, a fact she was unaware of before their marriage.
