Kannada Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa Charged with Murder and Conspiracy
The Karnataka Police have filed a chargesheet against popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and 16 others, accusing them of involvement in the murder of Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor. The chargesheet, submitted on Wednesday, alleges murder, conspiracy, and destruction of evidence.
According to the report, Pavithra Gowda, implicated as a key figure in the crime, was identified as the “major cause” behind the abduction and murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy. Forensic evidence reportedly confirmed her involvement, with bloodstains matching the victim’s DNA found on her footwear. The chargesheet, comprising 3,991 pages across seven volumes and ten files, presents a detailed account of the crime.
Renukaswamy’s murder stemmed from a series of obscene messages he allegedly sent to Pavithra Gowda, blaming her for problems within Darshan’s family. Enraged by these messages, Gowda reportedly pressured Darshan to retaliate. Acting on her instigation, Darshan allegedly ordered his henchmen to abduct Renukaswamy.
Raghavendra, another accused and a member of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, lured Renukaswamy to a shed in R.R. Nagar, under the guise of meeting Darshan. There, Renukaswamy was reportedly tortured and eventually murdered. The post-mortem report stated that he died due to shock and hemorrhage resulting from multiple blunt injuries.
The investigation also revealed that Darshan attempted to obstruct the inquiry into the case, leading to his transfer to Ballari prison. The chargesheet against the accused individuals, including Darshan and Gowda, brings to light the serious nature of the crime and the efforts to cover it up.
