A 22-year-old man from Shivalli village, Naveen Nayak, was arrested on Wednesday, September 11, in connection with the harassment of a female student at a hostel in Manipal. The incident occurred on September 1, when Nayak allegedly gained unauthorized entry into a hostel for backward classes in Ananth Nagar around 2:15 AM and harassed a female student sleeping near a window.
The arrest followed a thorough investigation led by police inspector Devaraj T V and a team, including PSI Raghavendra, PSI Akshay Kumari, and others. Nayak was apprehended near Indrali Railway Station. Authorities also discovered that he had been involved in a similar disturbance case in Puttur, Udupi district, in 2023, which is still under judicial review.
Nayak is now in custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
