A district court has sentenced Manikanta Swamy, 35, to death after he was convicted of killing his wife, mother, and two young children. The tragic incident took place on April 28, 2021, in the village of Chamegowdana Hundi, Sargur Taluk, Mysuru district.
Under the influence of alcohol, Swamy murdered his wife Ganga, who was nine months pregnant, his 65-year-old mother Kempamma, and his two sons—Samrat, 2, and Rohith, 4. Police investigations revealed that Swamy had ongoing suspicions about his wife, which led to tensions within the family. Despite efforts by relatives to address his concerns, these doubts escalated, culminating in the devastating crime.
After the killings, Swamy fled the scene, but he was later arrested following a police manhunt. The court’s decision to impose the death penalty underscores the severity of the crime.
