The Mangaluru city police have arrested three interstate thieves involved in stealing from locked houses, recovering property worth Rs 12.5 lakh. The arrested individuals are Mohammed Siyab alias Siya of Manjeshwar, Kerala; Mohammed Arpaz alias Arpa of Bajpe; and Sapwan alias Sappa.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that over the last two to three months, there were three theft cases from locked houses in Konaje police limits, resulting in property losses worth Rs 9.2 lakh.

On July 10, a police team intercepted a car at Mudungarkatte with the three suspects. The police found two daggers, three dummy pistols, monkey caps, gloves, handguns, and tools used for breaking into houses. During interrogation at Konaje police station, the suspects confessed to three thefts in Konaje. Recovered property includes Rs 12.5 lakh worth of gold jewelry (130 grams), a watch, and a car.

The suspects, along with Ashraf Ali, a Kerala native arrested at Kumble police station, were committing thefts and robberies using hired cars. Based on Siyab’s information, another accused, Mohammad Jamsheera of Sajipa, has been detained for interrogation.

Siyab has 13 criminal cases against him for robbery, house theft, attempted murder, drug selling, and honeytrap schemes across Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts. Arpaz faces three theft and robbery cases, while Sapwan is charged in a house theft case. The suspects are also linked to thefts and robberies in Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hassan, and Kasaragod districts.
