Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging a National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiry into the presence of illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the Udupi district. In his letter dated October 14, Suvarna highlighted the recent arrest of seven Bangladeshi citizens in Malpe, known for being one of Asia’s largest ports.

Suvarna expressed concern over the infiltration of illegal workers in Malpe Port, creating unease among the locals. He called for immediate action to uncover the network behind this illegal migration and urged a broader crackdown across the coastal district. Additionally, Suvarna requested the central government to investigate the issuance of fake Aadhaar cards and passports to these foreign nationals.

Malpe police have detained the seven individuals, and the investigation is currently underway.
