Murder of Young Man in Koppal District: Body Set Ablaze in Shocking Incident
A 22-year-old agricultural laborer, Sharanappa Shivappa Muski, was found murdered in his home in Kushtagi taluk, Koppal district, with his body set on fire, police reported on Tuesday.
Incident Details
The chilling discovery was made on Monday morning when neighbors noticed smoke emanating from Muski’s house and alerted his father, who was visiting his elder daughter at the time. Upon investigation, authorities found a cooking gas cylinder near the charred remains, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the murder.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram L Arasiddhi stated that despite the house being situated in a populated area, no neighbors reported any suspicious activity. Muski was last seen wandering late Sunday night, with the murder likely occurring in the early hours when the village was without electricity, complicating the investigation.
Investigation Underway
The motive behind the murder remains unclear. However, local sources indicated that a woman had been seen in Muski’s house in the days leading up to his death, suggesting the possibility of an illicit relationship. Investigators suspect the involvement of two to three individuals who attempted to destroy evidence by setting the body ablaze with kerosene.
A case has been registered under BNS section 103 at the Kushtagi rural police station, and authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects.
