Nigerian National Arrested for Drug Peddling in Bengaluru
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru police apprehended a 31-year-old Nigerian national, Boniface, for drug peddling, seizing narcotics worth ₹2.36 crore.
Authorities reported that Boniface arrived in India in 2020 on a medical visa. Initially based in Greater Noida, he briefly worked as a barber before moving to Bengaluru. During his time there, he allegedly connected with a woman, believed to be a foreign national, who supplied him with drugs. Boniface then sold these narcotics, often at inflated prices, to various customers, including college students.
Following a tip-off, CCB officers conducted a raid at Boniface’s residence in Doddanagamangala on October 24. The operation led to the recovery of 1.577 kg of MDMA, a mobile phone, and an electronic weighing scale, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to ₹2.36 crore.
On October 25, Boniface was presented in court and remanded to police custody. Authorities are currently on the lookout for his female accomplice, who remains at large.
