Notorious Rowdies Arrested for Assault and Vandalism at Mangaluru Bar
Mangaluru, Aug 21: Two notorious rowdies, Santosh and Vishwanath from Bantwal, were arrested by a police team led by Punjalakatte SI Nandakumar on Wednesday. The pair had been on the run since their violent assault at Prakash Bar and Restaurant in Pangala Padavu on August 4.
The incident occurred after Santosh and Vishwanath, who had traveled from Bantwal, consumed alcohol at the bar. Following their drinking session, they brutally attacked the bar staff and a cook with rods, causing severe head injuries to the cook, who required treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The rowdies also vandalized electronic items, including the bar’s computer, and damaged other valuable property.
The attack was captured on CCTV and the footage went viral, aiding in the identification and apprehension of the suspects. Santosh, who was previously imprisoned for attempted murder and out on bail, had also been involved in a previous violent incident in Bantwal, resulting in a rowdy sheet being filed against him.
The police team successfully tracked down the accused and presented them before the court on August 21.
