Notorious Rowdy Sheeter Jayanth Chikkarevanna Shot By Bengaluru Police During Chase

In a dramatic confrontation on Saturday, the Dobbspet police apprehended Jayanth Chikkarevanna, a notorious rowdy-sheeter, after a high-stakes chase in the northern outskirts of Bengaluru. Known as Battery Jayanth, the 26-year-old has been linked to at least 55 criminal cases and has 18 active warrants against him across various courts in Karnataka.

Chase and Confrontation The incident unfolded around 6:30 PM when police, led by Dobbspet Inspector Raju, located Jayanth in Shivagange. Upon attempting to arrest him, Jayanth reportedly used pepper spray against Officer Imran Khan and fled the scene. During the pursuit, Jayanth brandished a dagger and injured several police officers.

Despite Inspector Raju’s warning shot into the air, Jayanth continued to resist. The situation escalated, prompting the inspector to fire directly at him. The bullet struck Jayanth in his right leg, disabling him. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Criminal Background and Arrest Jayanth Chikkarevanna has been a significant concern for law enforcement, with a criminal career spanning nearly a decade. His criminal activities include highway robberies, particularly targeting truck drivers, and training youth in robbery techniques across six districts. His extensive criminal network and habitual offenses made him a top priority for the Bengaluru Rural police.

He emphasized that the special team formed to capture Jayanth has been crucial in addressing his criminal activities, which have plagued various regions including Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Ramanagar, Bengaluru city, Tumakuru, and Kanakapura
